Definition:
Rainscreens:
The principal features of a rainscreen system are an outermost
arrangement of panels designed to shed water effectively and to
provide the finished appearance. Behind the panels there will be
a cavity to accommodate the supporting framework required for the
panels, an air gap of at least 25mm and an insulated airtight backing
wall.
The air gap is the primary feature of a rainscreen system and
is designed to act as a pressure cushion to prevent water from reaching
the insulation or backing wall, thereby negating the requirement
to provide sealed joints.

Aluminium Composite Material (ACM):
ACM is a composite panel consisting of two aluminium sheets bonded
to both sides of a low-density thermoplastic core. The result is
a material that is exceptionally flat and lightweight, resistant
to weather and impact damage and can be engineered into complex
shapes and sizes. ACM sheets include Alucobond, Alucomat and Reynobond.
